Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the league clubs from?
The league encompasses the southern tier area of Western New York with member clubs in Olean, Jamestown, Falconer, Fredonia, Bemus Point, Randolph and Westfield, along with clubs in the Eden and Springville areas of Erie County, as well as Bradford, PA.

Who can join the league?
Any club/team may apply for membership in the league provided they abide by the league-established deadlines found in Section 2, Membership Eligibility, of our current Constitution and By-laws.

Who is eligible to play in the league?
Any and all boys and girls, ages 10 through 17, are provided the opportunity to try out for any league team, irrespective of their home community, but the final decision on roster placement is normally left to the respective coach/club and is based on the players’ skills, knowledge of the game and experience. It is recommended, but not mandatory, that the player have had previous playing experience either in a local recreational league or at the school level.

When does the season start/finish?
Normally, the season begins the last weekend of April and concludes the last weekend of June for the younger age groups and the first weekend of July for the older age groups.

Does the league participate in and/or host travel tournaments?
Yes, but the decision to participate is normally left to the individual clubs. Some teams elect to participate in area tournaments during the season, while others participate in those at the conclusion of the season.

Can players/coaches participate in multiple leagues?
Yes, according to the rules established by the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF), teams, players and coaches have the absolute right to participate in the programs of any USSF organization provided they comply with the registration rules of that organization.

How do I become a coach and/or administrator in the league?
Any individual interested in becoming a coach and/or administrator may contact either a league official as listed on this website or the club contact for the area in which you reside. However, it is not mandatory that you coach and/or participate only for the club in your area. Our league provides the opportunity to become associated with any club, provided you complete the necessary risk management requirements and other league requirements.
